pWednesday December 26th Witmer Volunteers responded to assist Station 5 Strasburg with a Barn Fire on Eisenburger Road in Strasburg Township. Both the Tanker and Engine 62-2 made the response as part of the Tanker Task Force. Units proceeded with caution during the trip given the less then ideal weather conditions of snow sleet and possible ice. Not long after returning from the Barn Fire Squad 62 was dispatched to assist crews in Conestoga Township with the search of a missing elderly male who had wandered away from home unknowingly. Volunteers from Witmer worked past 2am with a number of other fire companies as well as Search and Rescue teams with tracking dogs to help find the missing gentleman. Sadly the gentleman was found the around 8am in the morning deceased. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and all involved in the incident. While crews were searching in Conestoga Township Engine 62-1 was dispatched to the area of Pennwick Road and New Holland Pike Rt 23 to assist Station 204 Eden with a vehicle accident with reported entrapment shortly after 1am. Engine 62-1 made the response and assisted with hazard control and wrap up before returning. Pictures from the Strasburg Township Barn Fire will be posted at a later date.p
