Ox Roasts

For over 70 years, Witmer Fire Protective Association has held Ox Roasts as a major fundraiser to fund our operations. We typically hold three Ox Roasts per year. The second Saturday in February, third, fourth (traditionally) or fifth Saturday in April (possible change due to Easter holiday) and the third Saturday in October.

Almost all food is made on site, and all meals are currently drive-thru take-out. Our Ox Roasts are known the nation over for providing a good hearty meal to all those who come to enjoy it. We have regular customers from across the street, as well as the states of PA, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, New York and beyond (sometimes even Florida!)

CONTINUING IN 2022:

Due to Covid-19 and staffing shortages, the Witmer Fire Protective Association decided that all 2022 and future Ox Roasts will be served Take-Out Only. The full Ox Roast meal will be available at the 2022 Dinners via our regular Drive-Thru Take-Out System.

Our menu includes:

Hot Container

  • Slow Cooked Beef
  • Homemade Filling
  • Home Cooked Potatoes
  • Lancaster County Sweet Corn

Foam Container

  • Homemade Gravy
  • Locally Made Rolls & Butter
  • Cole Slaw
  • Peaches
  • Ice Cream
  • Cookie
  • Drink

Our Ox Roasts are great for families, destination clubs/groups, day trips, or lunch/dinner on a whim!

Ox Roast Dates for 2022 are as follows:

  • February 12, 2022
  • April 23, 2022
  • October 15, 2022

Drive-Thru opens at 11:00AM and runs until sold out.

*All Ox Roasts in 2022 will be TAKE OUT ONLY*

Prices:

$17.00 per meal*

If you would like to join our email or regular mailing lists to receive Ox Roast dates, reminders, and information, please send an email to oxroast@witmerfire.com, or sign our sign-up sheet at the next Ox Roast you attend. Your information will not be provided to anyone other than the Witmer Fire Protective Association.

We are located on Mount Sidney Road, between the Old Philadelphia Pike and Horseshoe Road. Our street address for mapping websites and GPS units is 455 Mount Sidney Road, Lancaster, PA 17602.

All proceeds from our Ox Roasts benefit the Witmer Fire Protective Association.

Thank you for your continued support and patronage!

*Due to continuously changing market prices for meat and other ingredients, the 2022 Ox Roast price is subject to change for the April 2022 and October 2022 Ox Roasts. Follow

Witmer Fire has answered a couple alarms in the last week due to Carbon Monoxide (CO). Even though we are leaving the winter months, it does not mean that CO cannot be present. Please make sure any gas (LP or Natural Gas) appliance is properly vented to the OUTSIDE. Make sure all vent connections have tight seals. A specialist (plumber of HVAC tech) can inspect your units. Please have CO meters in your house. CO is an odorless, colorless gas formed by the incomplete combustion of fuels. If you have a CO alarm sounding in your residence, or you have a suspicion of CO gas in your house, please dial 911. ... See MoreSee Less
